Dawn has been a client at Liesse for almost 30 years and has been working part-time with us for 5 years. She is one of the founders of Merlin's Hope Shar-Pei/Chow-Chow rescue which services Eastern Canada including areas of Toronto, Mississauga, Kingston, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax. This rescue was started in 2003, now celebrating their 15th anniversary and countless of saved lives! This rescue is dedicated to saving, rehabilitating, and re-homing Chow-Chows and Chinese Shar-Peis with emphasis placed on blind, handicapped, or death-row dogs as their priority.
The Rescue was founded to honor a blind Chow named Merlin, who showed the world that blind dogs rule! Merlin was a true ambassador of the breed and was loved by all who met him. Blind dogs can perform just as well as sighted dogs; almost 90% of the time, caregivers don't even notice their dog is blind! Merlin's Hope is operated by benevolent volunteers across several provinces which donate their free time and effort to the Rescue Effort.
Each year they host an artisan fair. Pass by next year to learn and support this wonderful rescue. In her arms she is holding Spiky, one of Alex's Guinea Pigs!
